25/50/100 Ton Masters License
Holding a Masters license will allow you to operate an inspected passenger vessel documented to carry more than six passengers. In Alaska this would include most tour boats, inspected charter fishing boats and transport boats. Depending on the tonnage of the vessels you acquired your sea service time aboard as well as your areas of operation will determine what tonnage license you will qualify for Inland or (Near Coastal). Inland will allow you to operate inside the boundary line with paying passengers, and Near Coastal will allow you to operate up to 200 miles from shore with paying passengers. ...more

OUPV License (Six Pack License)
The USCG Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) License allows the holder to carry up to six paying passengers on uninspected vessels up to 100 gross tons. These are usually smaller vessels that normally engage in charter fishing, Kayak transporting, Tours and Hunting trips. These vessels are limited to six paying passengers plus crew giving it the industry accepted name “six pack license”. 100 Ton Masters Upgrade
Alaska Waters Consulting is now offering a 25/50/100 Ton Upgrade course. The duration of this course is 24 hours of instruction and additional time for testing. Upon successful completion you will be issued a certificate to present to the USCG REC. With a Masters license you will legally be able to operate inspected vessels documented to carry six or more passengers. Depending on the tonnage of the vessels you acquired your sea service time aboard as well as your areas of operation will determine what level masters license you will qualify for.
